When experience matters.

I am a leader and system’s thinker who has spent a career supporting business, nonprofit, government, faith-based, and philanthropic organizations.

I have over 30 years of experience in community development and helping organizations weave social fabric and improve communities. In roles as diverse as a nonprofit executive director, interim director and a consultant, I helped dozens of organizations in the Portland Metro area to run effective meetings, assess community needs, design programs, create effective boards, develop strategic plans, and strengthen programs that serve the community. I also support the administrative functions of Storied Vintage, a retail store specializing in restoration and resale of furniture and home decor.

Expert in facilitation, group process, strategic and revenue planning, building collaboration, and community development, my unique skills add high-value to groups seeking to create change.

I Work on What Matters

Many of us have the nagging feeling that the thinking “big is better” and “we are rugged individualists” is becoming less of an asset and more of a liability to our organization, neighborhood, business district and community. Using a metaphor that reflects the heritage of our community, we are not individual trees, new growth or old growth, but we are a biodiverse forest dependent upon each other for success.

We recognize that Portland is not a monolithic city. Across our diverse geographically, there are 94 recognized neighborhoods and approximately 50 unique business districts. Government, nonprofits, civic groups, faith communities, and philanthropy play supporting roles to help Portland thrive. It is important to understand and connect the pivotal roles each organization plays in community development and placemaking. My goal is to provide strategic support to help the organizations and community groups in our community maximize their impact both independently and in collaboration with others.

I work on what matters. I partner with organizations and community groups, with a positive vision for organizational improvement and placemaking. My work is centered on building community, connecting businesses and organizations to transform communities into vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable places where people feel a sense of belonging. This collaborative approach moves beyond a single organization and seeks to strengthen ecosystems. I support the social, cultural, and economic life of our neighborhoods, city, and region.
